Beyond Monumental has announced virtual options for two Indianapolis signature running events: The Indy Half Marathon and Fort Ben, and the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K. Both events are still planned to occur in-person, as scheduled. Participants now also have the option of participating virtually at a location of their choice.
Virtual events have grown in popularity recently and especially in 2020, with many in-person running events making the switch to an online platform so participants can still finish the race while observing social distancing. Participants register, receive a race package in the mail, run the prescribed distance at the location of their choice and submit their results online. Each distance has a variety of benefits, listed here.
“We recognize and understand there is a degree of uncertainty about mass participation events planned for the fall,” said Jed Cornforth, executive director of Beyond Monumental, “We will continue to follow all state and local guidelines for events and gatherings. We also want our participants to feel as safe as possible while completing their event, and offer those who may not yet feel comfortable participating in-person an option to be healthy, stay connected, and run.”
Participants who are already registered for the in-person event have the option from now to June 30th to switch to virtual participation, defer the entry to 2021, or donate their entry to our flagship kids running program, Monumental Kids Movement.
In-person registration is still open for both events. Should either be cancelled at a future date, participants will again at that time have the option to switch to the virtual event, defer their registration until 2021, or donate their entry. Should registrants need to request a refund, they are encouraged to email info@beyondmonumental.org.
Registration is available at www.indyhalfmarathon.com and www.monumentalmarathon.com.
