So I have a question for everyone?! Do you ever find it hard at times to get out the door by yourself to get your walks/runs in? I know there are days I have this problem. I have found over the years what has really helped me is having someone or a group of people to help hold me accountable.
This was very evident yesterday for my long run. It was one of those mornings that it was hard to get out of bed but I knew I had friends expecting me to be there at 7am to get our scheduled long run in. As we started the run I just knew it wasn’t my day but with the encouragement of my running buddies they helped me get through it and I was glad I did! It would have been easy by myself just to stop after a certain amount of time and go back to my car or not even get out of bed at all. I know if I wouldn’t have shown up or stopped earlier than planned I would of beat myself up the rest of the day.
Has anyone else found a group or someone to train with that helps hold you accountable?! It really does make a difference. It provides me with that extra little motivation I need to stay committed. When I was, younger I used to watch The Golden Girls, I believe the theme song to the show was “Thank you for being a friend”. I sure was thankful yesterday to have my friends there to push me and hold me accountable.
I hope everyone’s training is going well so far!
