A MULTITUDE OF CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT FORT BEN
Over 3,200 participants, including runners, walkers & wheelchair athletes, took on the 29th annual Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben today. The 2024 event featured a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, & Kids One Mile open race as well as the USATF Masters Half Marathon Championships.
All race courses traverse around historic Lawrence, Indiana and through the Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park, before finishing on the idyllic Lawton Loop for the perfect, fall road racing event. The post-race celebration included a beer garden featuring beverages from Sun King, Circle Beverage, Tinker Coffee, and Athletic Brewing; as well as free pizza from Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza. Participants also had the opportunity for free injury assessments and post-race stretching provided by Athletico.
Additionally, nearly 500 Lawrence Township students lined up for the 5K as part of the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement presented by Indiana University Indianapolis (MKM) program. These students received a free entry as part of their bi-weekly running club at their individual schools. Since 2012 the Apex Benefits MKM has expanded to 60+ schools and 30,000+ graduates.
Jesse Davis led the Half Marathon to win the men’s USATF Masters Half Marathon Championship in a time of 1:08:04. Ramiro Guillen finished second in 1:11:51, and John Poray third in 1:12:57.
