Indiana National Guard Now A Presenting Sponsor of the Fort Ben 5K
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana National Guard joins Beyond Monumental and is now the presenting sponsor of the Indy Half Marathon and 5K at Fort Ben taking place Oct. 5, 2019.
Being a presenting sponsor of the 5K event enables support expansion of the event compared to previous years. The Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben has brought thousands of participants to Lawrence every fall for the past 24 years. The respective races travel through Fort Harrison State Park, the former Fort Benjamin Harrison Army post, and culminate with a family-friendly fall cookout on the parade grounds.
The Indiana National Guard is a joint-force organization with 65 Army National Guard installations around the state, including facilities at Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training Center. Additionally, there are two Air Wings, the 181st Intelligence Wing and the 122nd Fighter Wing. The Lawrence Readiness Training Center in Lawrence houses the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the Indiana National Guard.
“The National Guard’s phenomenal volunteer support of our event in Lawrence and at the finish line of the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K is a large part of what creates a great participant experience,” said Jed Cornforth, Executive Director of Beyond Monumental. “Having them as a presenting sponsor of the 5K allows us to highlight their contributions even more.”
Registration for all Beyond Monumental events, including the Monumental Mile (June 7), Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben (October 5) and CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon (November 9) is open and available online at beyondmonumental.org.
