BEYOND MONUMENTAL WELCOMES RECORD NUMBER OF STUDENTS TO LUCAS OIL STADIUM FOR THE APEX BENEFITS MONUMENTAL KIDS 5K PRESENTED BY INDIANA UNIVERSITY INDIANAPOLIS
Indianapolis – September 17, 2025 – More than 1,300 Marion County students will gather downtown on Saturday, September 20, 2025 for the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K presented by Indiana University Indianapolis. Now in its fourth year, the event celebrates students who have completed the six-week, curriculum-based health and wellness program centered around running, the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement presented by Indiana University Indianapolis.
Highlights to Watch:
Opening Ceremony (9:00 a.m.) – Join a celebration of student achievement, featuring a program check presentation benefiting local schools.
- Presenting guests will include Josh Schumacher, Director of Marketing Communications of Apex Benefits; Jay Gladden, Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor of IU Indianapolis; and various district leaders from participating school districts, including Indianapolis Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Aleesia Johnson.
- Through this program and with the support of sponsors like Apex Benefits and IU Indianapolis, Beyond Monumental has donated over $1.6 million dollars to public schools in Marion County.
Wellness Expo (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) – For the first time, the Expo will take place inside Lucas Oil Stadium on the field. Featuring over a dozen local organizations like Citizens Energy Group, Donate Life Indiana, Indiana Sports Corp, and Playworks.
The 5K Race (9:30 a.m.) – Students from five school districts will complete their 3.1-mile run or walk after completing their six weeks of bi-weekly training at their individual schools. The downtown course culminates in an epic finish through the Lucas Oil Stadium tunnel and onto the field endzone.

- Boys: Owen Pritchard – 18:23 (2024)
- Girls: Trinity Palmer – 21:57 (2022)
Traffic Advisory: The South Lot of Lucas Oil Stadium will close to public traffic starting at 4:30 a.m. Roads near and around Lucas Oil Stadium will be impacted from 9:00 a.m. through 11:00 a.m. by the 5K course and have rolling road or lane closures including: McCarty St, Capitol Ave, Illinois St, Meridian St, Madison Ave, Delaware St, Pennsylvania St, South St, and Missouri St.

The Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement presented by Indiana University Indianapolis is a bi-weekly school-based running club powered by a health and wellness curriculum that educates youth about the benefits of exercise, proper diet, and healthy living. It is typically a seven-to-nine week program culminating with students running the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben 5K or the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K presented by Indiana University Indianapolis.
