BEYOND MONUMENTAL UNVEILS EXPANDED LEGACY PROGRAM TO CELEBRATE PARTICIPANT’S DEDICATION AND MONUMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS
INDIANAPOLIS, July 24, 2025 – Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)3 non-profit behind the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, has launched a new Legacy Program for 2025 to celebrate participants who have made a long-term commitment to the event across all race distances.
Since its inaugural year in 2008, the Monumental Marathon has welcomed runners from around the globe and hosted Olympians, thousands of Boston Marathon qualifiers, and countless PR seekers. In honor of those who return year after year, the reimagined Legacy Program will now formally recognize runners and walkers with five or more official finishes in the Marathon, Half Marathon, or 5K, with commemorative medallions awarded at each five-year milestone.
“Participants return to Indianapolis each fall not just for the fast course, but for the sense of purpose and connection that our event fosters,” said Jed Cornforth, President & CEO of Beyond Monumental. “Our Legacy Program honors that sustained commitment to the sport and reinforces our belief in the lifelong benefits of running for health, wellness, and community.”
Participants who qualify will be eligible to receive their Legacy medallions at the Results & Awards tent after completing their race on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Legacy runners will also be honored with a dedicated section in the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo, bib recognition, and exclusive future perks. The Legacy Lounge will serve as a celebration space within the Expo for all attendees to learn more about the program and honor 18 years of monumental accomplishments.
The program will automatically enroll eligible runners based on official race results. Participants do not need to complete races consecutively to qualify, and have the opportunity to earn recognition in multiple distances. Legacy Streakers, those who have finished a distance every year since 2008, will remain a cornerstone of the event and will now receive milestone medallions alongside their streak recognition and perks. Individuals can check their current legacy status and milestone progress through the newly developed and searchable database on monumentalmarathon.com.
“We believe in honoring the stories behind the monumental miles,” said Cornforth. “Whether it’s your fifth finish or your fifteenth, every participant has helped shape this event into what it is today. This program is a tribute to that legacy.”
Registration is off to a strong start for the 2025 CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and on track to sell out earlier than ever for the 13th consecutive sellout.
