IU HEALTH EXTENDS OFFICIAL MEDICAL PROVIDER PARTNERSHIP FOR CNO FINANCIAL INDIANAPOLIS MONUMENTAL MARATHON
Indiana’s largest marathon partners with Indiana’s largest and most comprehensive health system
INDIANAPOLIS – Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)3 non-profit responsible for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, announced an extension with IU Health as the Official Medical Partner of the 2023 CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.
“We are ecstatic to continue working with IU Health as the Official Medical Provider as we return for the 16th anniversary of the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon”, said Jed Cornforth, Executive Director, Beyond Monumental. “Beyond Monumental prioritizes the health and well-being of everyone involved in race weekend – competitors, spectators, and volunteers alike. This partnership helps ensure excellent medical support and care for our premiere event.”
The CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K takes runners and walkers through the heart of downtown Indianapolis, past iconic monuments and memorials, and through the city’s historic and scenic neighborhoods. It has grown to one of the top 13 largest marathons in the country, and attracts more than 15,000 participants including Olympians, Boston Marathon qualifiers, and PR seekers from around the country and internationally. IU Health will provide on-site medical support as well as administer essential health and medical care to participants and spectators lining the streets along each of the marathon, half marathon, and 5K courses.
“IU Health is proud to be providing medical coverage for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon,” said Dr. John Baldea, IU Health Sports Medicine provider. “We have assembled a comprehensive and compassionate team of medical providers to provide care to all race competitors every step of the way. Our care ranges from a pre-race training lecture series, evaluations of medical concerns in clinic, and staffing 23 aid stations along the course. Competitors and spectators alike can count on our expertise and care on race day.”
