11th Annual Event Expects 18,000 Participants Downtown

October 31, 2018 – The 11th annual CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon (please use the full name in all instances) will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018. Four events will be offered:  a full 26.2 mile marathon, a 13.1 mile half marathon, a 5K run and a Kids Fun Run. All events will begin at the intersection of Capitol Street and Washington Street.

This is the third year that Carmel, Indiana-based CNO Financial Group, a holding company for national life and health insurance subsidiaries including Bankers Life, is the title sponsor of the event. For the 11th consecutive year, Franciscan Health will serve as the presenting sponsor of the marathon and half marathon.

MEDIA PARKING is located on the north-east corner of Washington and Capitol, in front of the Indiana Repertory Theatre at 140 W. Washington St. For credentials and access to the hospitality/media room, please contact Rhiannon Johns (rhi@beyondmonumental.org, 317-513-0866).

Media Opportunities During Race Weekend

Thursday, November 1, 2018

  • 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monumental Health & Fitness Expo – Thousands of runners will come to the Monumental Health & Fitness Expo to visit vendors and pick up their race packets.
  • 5:30 PM – Speaker: Bob Kennedy – Two-Time, U.S Olympian; Supporter of Monumental Kids Movement and Owner of local running retailer Athletic Annex

Friday, November 2, 2018

  • 6:00 AM – Monumental Shake Out Run Benefitting Monumental Kids Movement Join runners, Beyond Monumental representatives, elite athlete Noah Droddy, and CNO Financial Group representatives, as they get ready for the race with a casual, easy run. Runners will be excited to talk about their goals for the following day. The event is free, but will accept donations to Beyond Monumental’s youth running program, Monumental Kids Movement.

  • 11:00 AM – 8 PM – Monumental Health & Fitness Expo
    • 11:30 AM – Speaker: Carlton Ray, Beyond Monumental Founder
    • 12:30 PM – Speaker: Coach Matt Ebersole, Monumental Pace Team & Elite Athlete Coordinator

 

  • 1:30 PM – Speaker: Lori Taylor, Founder & CEO of The Produce Moms, Monumental Moms Squad Leader
  • 2:30 PM – Speaker: Dr. Catherine Reese, Franciscan Health Sports Medicine Expert
  • 3:30 PM – Speaker: Amy Claire Patterson, Team World Vision

Opening Ceremonies/Official Start Location: Intersection of Capitol/Washington Streets
7:30 AM – Opening Ceremonies Begin. Featured Speakers & Honorary starters include:
8:00 AM – Official Start of CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon, presented by Franciscan Health
8:35 AM – Official start of CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental 5K
8:45 AM – Official start of CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Kids Fun Run

Finish Line Location: Washington Street, near Senate Street
8:50 AM / 8:52 AM – Anticipated Male/Female 5K Winner
9:03 AM / 9:12 AM – Anticipated Male/Female Half Marathon Winner
10:15 AM – 10:35 AM – Anticipated Male/Female Marathon Winner

Marathoners have 6.5 hours to complete the race. Closed roads will open as soon as possible.
