FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MORE MONUMENTAL THAN EVER: 11TH ANNIVERSARY TO CELEBRATE HEALTH & WELLNESS

The 2024 Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile showed up in style Saturday morning at University Park. Nearly 1,000 participants – featuring runners, walkers, pups, and elites – lined up to take on the 5K and 1-Mile courses in downtown Indianapolis. New champions were crowned and course records were shattered down Meridian Street.

Each race was highlighted by its own story – from a new women’s 5K record to the biggest Doggie Dash race ever to speedy elites battling it out. In the Women’s Elite race, Hannah Stoffel ran away with the victory in a time of 4:54, beating out second place by more than 10 seconds. Hadley Fisher and Jessica Backherms finished second and third in 5:05 and 5:06, respectively. The Men’s Elite race featured a much closer footrace, coming down to the final 50 meters – Dylan Allen won in 4:10 followed by Austin Nolan and Dimitri Margaritidis with finishing times of 4:11 and 4:13, respectively.

The second-annual Indianapolis 5K saw a new women’s event record this morning. Kelby Laughner took home the 2024 title in 16:51, besting last year’s record of 17:23 by more than 30 seconds.

In addition to all of our monumental winners on the course, three businesses were recognized for their first place finishes in the 2023 Monumental Corporate Cup. Winners included Athletic Annex (Small Business category), Apex Benefits (Medium Business category), and the CNO Financial Group (Large Business category).
