FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

National Championship Alert: Indiana Sports Corp and Beyond Monumental will host the nation’s fastest Masters milers at the 2025 Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile.

The 2023 championship held in Indy featured six age group American record (AR) holders in the mile, and was highlighted by the first-ever women’s 85-89 mile AR.

INDIANAPOLIS, Jun. 5, 2025 – Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)3 non-profit responsible for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, has partnered with Indiana Sports Corp to host the 2025 USATF Masters 1 Mile Championships in conjunction with the 12th annual Indianapolis Monumental Mile on Saturday, June 21.

Two years ago, over 120 masters athletes laced up in Indianapolis and set six age group American records in the mile. Overall winners, Katie Sherron and Bryan Lindsey, ran away with their titles in a finishing time of 5:05 and 4:25, respectively. Sherron crushed the Monumental Mile’s Master Course & Event record (formerly 5:27).

The 2025 championships will crown the top overall male and female finishers, as well as celebrate age division winners, highest age graded scores, and team performances with awards and cash prizes. The field of masters athletes will be competing for a championships-only purse of $5,000.

“We’re thrilled to add the USATF Masters 1 Mile Championships to this year’s event and to once again host the fastest masters milers here in Indianapolis” said Jed Cornforth, President & CEO of Beyond Monumental. “The Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile serves as the official kickoff of our annual celebration of health and wellness in central Indiana, offering inclusive race experiences for all ages and abilities. Whether someone is 5 or 105, we are proud to support them in achieving goals they may have never thought possible!”

The course will start in downtown Indy, streak past more than eight of the city’s iconic monuments and landmarks, and finish with an unforgettable stretch down Meridian Street where runners are greeted by the iconic view of Lady Victory atop the Soldiers & Sailors Monument.

The Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile has a race for everyone and attracts participants of all ages and abilities. The 2025 event has a full slate of races throughout the morning including a 5K, a Doggie Dash, and Non-Competitive Community race, Youth, Masters, Open and Elite divisions of the mile. For the second year, all finishers will get to take home a Finisher’s Medal and participants over 21+ can redeem a free adult beverage in the Post-Race Party.
