SECOND ANNUAL APEX BENEFITS MONUMENTAL KIDS 5K RETURNS TO DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS: CELEBRATING PUBLIC EDUCATION

The Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in downtown Indianapolis. The second annual event returns to celebrate Indianapolis students as they complete the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement and their achievement at the culminating 5K. 

Things to Watch & Check Out:

  • The event will kick off with a Wellness Expo with 12+ vendors from the greater Indianapolis area like Indiana Sports Corp, Playworks, Donate Life Indiana, and more.
  • Cheer on 1,000+ students from 5 Indianapolis school districts as they take on their culminating 5K at 9:15 a.m. These students have been training bi-weekly at their individual schools for the last 6 weeks through the free Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement program.
         – Through this program and support of sponsors like Apex Benefits, Beyond Monumental has donated over $1.5
    million dollars to public schools in Marion County. 
  • Participants will experience a new 3.1-mile course through downtown Indianapolis, with the final 200-meter finish stretch in front of the iconic Lucas Oil Stadium. 
  • With record participation, the current event records could be on the line. Times to beat are:
         – Boys: Maddox Bush – 19:52 (2022)
         – Girls: Trinity Palmer – 21:57 (2022)

Traffic Advisory: The South Lot of Lucas Oil Stadium will close to public traffic starting at 5:00 a.m. Roads near and around Lucas Oil Stadium will be impacted from 8:30 a.m. through 11 a.m. by the 5K course and have rolling road closures including: Missouri St, South St, Delaware St, Pennsylvania St, Madison Ave, Meridian St, Wilkins St, Kenwood Ave, and Capitol Ave.

9:15 a.m.  Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K Start
11:00 a.m. Event Concludes

The Apex Benefits Monumental Kids Movement is a bi-weekly school-based running club powered by a health and wellness curriculum that educates youth about the benefits of exercise, proper diet, and healthy living. It is typically a seven-to-nine week program culminating with students running the Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben 5K or the Apex Benefits Monumental Kids 5K. 

Apex Benefits, the program and events’ title sponsor, can be available for interview or quote upon request. Our partners support Beyond Monumental’s mission of actively supporting youth health and well-being by providing access to exceptional events and programs centered around the sport of running.
